PART I
Can you see the light shining softly?
It's saying that I'm always here,
It's telling you the night is not so lonely,
Tellin' you that you should never fear,
And I fought of circumstance for you,
Cos you see there wasn't much more I could do,
And in the morning, the Sun might wake you in your bed,
As you wipe the sleep from your eyes,
the dreams still running through your head,
Stay awake until the crack of dawn,
Until you see the light of another morn,
PART II
So collect thy tears in a glass my love and I shall drink them up,
Let's raise a toast to our memories and to our dreams,
Look me right in the eye if you really mean to drink to our good health,
Can you see the light in your glass as you swallow my tears?
There are times in my life when I'm just caught in limbo,
There are times in my life when I can't see the wood from the trees,
There are times in my life when I just can't hear myself thinking,
There are times in my life when I pray for a moment's reprise,
So walk with me down to the riverside and we shall kiss goodbye,
I'll drink from the cup of thy lips one very last time,
Let's not be afraid of what the future holds for us,
Or the past will enslave us and consume our present for years,
There are times in our lives when we are just caught in limbo,
There are times in our lives when we can't see the wood from the trees,
There are times in our lives when we just can't hear myself thinking,
There are times in our lives when we pray for a moment's reprise,
PART III
I stood by the stream and I watched as the light shone on the water moving by to the ocean on it's way. As the water moving by sailed on to a new land where the trees perhaps were taller than the wood in which I stood.
As the motes of light caressed your pale hand as it held mine rays of light were falling through the treetops to your skin. You pressed your hand in my hand and the sun caressed us gently the water slowly flowing through the patterns of my mind.
PART IV (Reprise)
There's a sign on the wall and it says that we're forbidden,
to express ourselves in a way that we see fit,
But we have to consider so hard all of our actions,
As society civilises itself to death,
There are times in my life when I'm just caught in limbo,
There are times in my life when I can't see the wood from the trees,
There are times in my life when I just can't hear myself thinking,
There are times in my life when I pray for a moment's reprise,
