Parts list for home-made wireless network extenders

Here we provide a list of component parts used in the CLAN and other wireless projects and include links to the manufacturer's description as well as links to buy them in the UK. Oh, and you have the prices too (at time of going to press - circa December 2003).

Disclaimer: we do not guarantee that the part numbers are correct, nor that the pricing is correct. Always check with you supplier that you are purchasing the right part before doing so. The recommendations of manufactures and suppliers on this page in no way indicates any affilation of the author (or any related web site) with them.

Basic wireless components from Buffalo Technology

This table lists some of the basic wireless components you'll need to get hold of. The set-up at it's simplest requires either two wireless cards in ad-hoc (or mesh) mode or a base-station and wireless card in managed mode. Buffalo Technologies' kit is what we've used so far (although we have also experimented with Apple's Airport and other manufacturers). Their stuff is cheap and chearful and works!
