Rising Tide

Key of C.

I wake up from a stupor in the dead of the night,
And all I need right then to do is to hold you real tight,
To shake from my mind the image of the wave,
That rose up from the ocean to mark the end of our days,

I cannot tell now what is true, nor who might tell the lies,
I'm not sure of which statistics are the ones that really hide,
The true state of the planet, nor which initiatives are real,
Nor which pop-star really cares or is just chained to that old wheel,

And what can I do to stem the rising tide?
Would a wigwam in Wales be a good place to hide?

The middle-class rich-hopeful who put away his flares,
Reads about the movements of his stocks and his shares,
As a member of the National Trust and RSPB,
An ethical investor is what he likes to be,

As his left-of-centre newspaper-cum-lifestylemagazine,
Keeps him so informed, he feels his conscience is clean,
After reading 'bout the polar bears and still shaking his head,
He scans the daily adverts for some cheap flights to the Med,

And what can he do to stem the rising tide?
Should he move his whole family to the Isle of Skye?

Zooming to the distance in my silver machine,
The traffic jam is threatening to destroy the dream,
The luxury upholstery helps to fix up the masque,
I'll leave you all behind when my foots hits the gas,

All charged up yet standing still I'm waiting in dream,
Stacked up on the highway of boxed up sardine tins,
Could it be that sometime I might escape from this maze,
Or will I keep on driving till the end of my days?

And what should I do to stem the rising tide?
Would a Toyota hybrid be the right car to drive?

And what can I do to stem the rising tide?
Would a teepee near Tenbigh be a good place to hide?

And what can I do to stem the rising tide?
Would a wigwam in Wales be a good place to hide?
